Destiny is all about the choices we make. We always have a choice and hence, what we choose defines our destiny.
If you landed on this article, its definitely no accident, your destiny led you here and you created your destiny. So, now you must be thinking, did I really create my destiny or how did I create it. The answer is yes, you created it and here we will find out how do we create our own destiny.
Life often presents us with different situations and these situations can be categorised in mainly two types, one which are completely under our control and the other which are not in our control. And the situations which we are not able to control, we call it as our destiny. But destiny is something more than that.
Destiny is not about where we are born or who our parents are or how we are raised. Destiny is about the choices we make in our life, and these choices decide the course of our life. Whatever the situation, whether it's in our control or not, we always have a choice about how do we respond to that situation. This choice will lead you to the take some action which will have its own result. And ultimately, this result becomes our destiny. Hence, our choices shape our destiny. Thus, we can understand destiny as below.
CHOICE -> ACTION -> RESULT -> DESTINY
One aspect of life is we are not in control. We never know what the next moment presents. Life will sometimes give us unexpected situations, but even in these situations also we have a complete control on our choice about how we will respond to the situation. We always have a choice to take it positively and move forward in our life. And this choice becomes our destiny. As William Jennings Bryan quoted,
Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.
Everything in the universe works on the law of cause and effect. There is always a cause behind the effect. The cause is your choice and the effect is your destiny. But sometimes, we are not not able to see the cause and we throw the blame on destiny, because that’s an easy escape. We always think in forward direction and look at the effect. But we never look backward and see the cause for it. If you are a student and you failed in the exam, it’s because you did not study well. It’s not because of your destiny, but because you did not put the required effort to study. The cause is always there behind the effect.
For e.x., you cannot have a fit body if you don’t take proper diet and do regular exercise. Its always your choice what you eat or whether you do the exercise or go for walk, etc. It's your choice here that will decide your health condition. If you fall sick or face any disease, it's because of the choices you made earlier. And if you are fit in your life even at an old age, that is also the result of your choices. Your choices are the cause and the effect is your health condition.
We often blame to destiny or God for things and situations that occur in our life. But it's not right. We are responsible for it. As the saying goes, “You reap what you sow.” In Vedas also it is described as, if you sow good seeds, you will reap a good harvest. Remember, God is always fair to all of us. And you always get what you truly deserve.
